Moses Swedberg is a pianist, chamber musician, and teacher from Plains, Montana. At an early age, he developed a love for music by listening to his dad’s classical cassette tapes, and soon all he wanted to do was learn how to play. At age seven, he was gifted the score to his favorite piece of music - Mozart’s 21st piano concerto. He began to teach himself and was soon reading music by Beethoven, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff. At age 9 he began eight years of studies with Molly Morrison of Missoula, Montana; during this time he attended several summer music programs including Interlochen Arts Camp and made his public debut, playing a program that included Chopin’s Nocturne Op.62 no.2 and Poulenc’s Toccata.
Since moving to Colorado Springs in 2018, Moses has had the privilege to play with some of the finest soloists and ensembles in the area. His solo programs include repertoire from Mozart to Messiaen, and his playing has been described as “dazzling” and “transcendent.” Equally at home playing classical music, show tunes, or spirituals, he is a contracted accompanist for PPSC and U91Â鶹ӳ»S, Colorado Springs Youth Choir, and Sierra High School. His favorite part of being a pianist is meeting and connecting with people. He views music as a powerful tool for empathetic connection, emotional regulation, and communication.
Moses’ favorite pianist is Martha Argerich and his favorite piece of music is Mahler’s 8th Symphony. His mentor is Dr. Abram Minzer of Colorado Springs.
