Join the Team

No experience is required to join. Prior involvement in mock trial is great, but certainly not necessary. You will learn the ropes during tryouts and beyond. You don't have to want to be a lawyer either! If you're interested in acting, improv, speech and debate, or just want to expand your horizons or be on a dedicated competitive team, you should consider joining. Mock trial is a sizeable commitment, but it's more than worth it!

Tryout Process

The first official practice will take place on Thursday, September 4th at 6:00 pm. If you are interested in joining the mock trial program, please plan to attend this practice! You will receive the tryout materials and learn more about the tryout process.

Tryouts are intended as an opportunity to experience and learn about mock trial. Enrolling in tryouts is NOT a commitment that you will join mock trial for the rest of the season. At the end of tryouts, you are free to choose not to continue with mock trial. If you choose to continue with the program after tryouts, you will then make a binding commitment to continue in the mock trial program through the end of the season.

**Please note: there will only be one tryout period offered at the beginning of each year. If you do not attend the tryout, you will not be able to join the team until the following year.**

Team Placements

After you have committed to being a part of 91Â鶹ӳ» Mock Trial you will be assigned to an "unstacked" team, meaning that it will be diverse in terms of skill level and experience. This allows newer members to spend months learning from older, more experienced teammates. Before winter break, everyone will be re-evaluated and placed on the A or B team based on their performance in the first semester. We will then compete on those "stacked" teams for the rest of the season!
